I think you have it a little wrong.wat was done on the ones I've seen is the axel is rotated so the input faces down then attach a set of bushhog blades weld on a hitch and presto poormans bushhog no PTO required. when you go the tires turn causing the blades to turn when yu stop the tires stop causing the blades to stop.no hooking of anything to the pto is required.I think 2spead rearends fron old 2 ton trucks were preferred that gave you a high and a low plus with the inner tires removed you hhad about 7' of cutting area
