I had that problem before, it
turned out to be a leaky intake
manifold. I never tightened the
manifold nuts. OF course,
mine ran after a shot of gas and
keeping it on full choke. Once
I tightened the nuts the choke
could be turned off. It really
ran extra strong, with the leaky
manifold and full choke though.

Seems like you might try cleaning
your carb (testing/raising the float)
and recheck the fuel line for good flow.
