In the process of rebuilding a 1938 F14, I went through three heads. One was 2 stud, the others were 3 stud.

I have no basis of fact for which was what, but it is my impression that the two-stud is correct for early F12, and 3 stud is correct for late F12 and F14.

Then again, I could be completely full of baloney...
