According to a book I have, International Harvester - Farm Equipment History 1831-1985, there were 36 pre-production model 7288 tractors made. The book also says they were successfully retailed. The sale of IH Farm Equipment division was completed shortly after the 7288 were produced, so no further production occurred. The next development phase was to be a 7688 and 7888 tractor with the largest to have 300 engine horsepower.
