IMHO you have only a little time invested and it may last literally years. If by some chance it fails you haven't really lost much. I say try it!

PS: you may want to relieve the crack with, say, a dremel tool to get a good 'tooth' for the JB, it really depends on your appraisal of the situation, (it's your engine, not mine, 'grin')
