F-20 - Bad spark and other problems

Fellas - I have an F-20 that I bought about a year ago. I bought it as a loose but not running tractor. I am now tinkering with it to get it running.

When I disconnect a spark plug wire from the plug, I can set the end of the wire real close to the frame, turn the engine over, and see a spark jump from the wire to the frame. When I connect the wire to the plug and turn the engine over, the spark plug is not throwing a spark. What gives?

Also, the spark plug wires are set up such that the engine fires in reverse order. I have heard of that before, but I am not sure why this is done. Can someone please explain?

Last, I recently moved and still can't find my F-20 owner's manual. What is the engine oil capacity?
