My guess is defective clutch springs, which are causing a distortion in the manner clutch mates agains the pressure plate. At some point of disengagement the clutch face is still dragging on the pressure plate just enough to bear on it forcing continued revolutions? I'd be interested to learn just what you find to be the true cause?
