My SMTA was stuck, so I removed the oil pan to have a look and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I removed the head and found some silt, etc. on the pistons and removed it (I took the head in to a machine shop and had them take care of it). I soaked the tops of the pistons in Mystery Oil and pounded on them with a hammer and wood block for about four months. After that didn't work I decided to disconnect any of the rods (from the crank) that I could get to (that was two; I couldn't get to the others because they were TDC) and try to move the crank. Since it didn't move I decided to try something against my better judgement - I hooked my come-along to a barn post and a dimple in the crank. I SLOWLY applied a little pressure and the engine loosened up. I then tapped on the two disconnected pistons until they moved (My first thought was to put a hydraulic jack underneath the crank and slowly put pressure on it, but I decided on the other way). This was my first engine tear down, and it was a lot of fun.
