It's at the farm right now so I can't answer all your questions but an hour or so will heat up the pan, engine oil and the heat begins to circulate up into the block. Mine was for a B250 and so it isn't the biggest but TSC can help you with application. Interestinly my dad used to put a blanket over the M and hang a 60 watt light bulb down by the pan...just enough heat to help her start on those cold mornings......Mike in Exeter Ontario
