Your TA clutch is not releasing when you are pressing in the engine clutch. There is a short linkage between the TA clutch release shaft and the engine clutch release shaft. Take the pin out at the TA end and turn the turnbuckle in 1-2 turns to begin with (ie shortening the linkage). See if that works. If not turn it 1-2 more turns, that should be more than enough to do the trick.
