Hydraulics on a '53 Super H

Can someone help clear up my confusion on the hydraulic set up my '53 Super H. I have two hydraulic rams connected to front mounted cultivators. One of the lines connects to the single port on the right of the tractor and the other connects to the front port on the left side. These operate just fine. There is another ram hooked up to a rod that goes to the rear of the tractor. This is connected to the left rear port. It will extend like the other rams but will not return. I have to disconnect the line and let the oil that is under pressure spray out and then the ram will return. Why doesn't this ram return like the others? Thanks in advance for any info you might have.
