engine opinion

I was at a salvage yard today and found a farmall H engine and front pedestal. I wanted to get the shaft for the hand crank out of it because mine is broke. The thing is that they will take the shaft out for $25 or I could get the whole engine for $25. The engine is complete except for the governor, carb and mageneto. The valve cover has rusted through, so I know it has been sitting a long time. I was just wondering if it would be worth taking the risk to buy the whole thing? I didn't take off the oil pan because it was partially buried under some other engines. Should I bother trying to uncover it?
