While I was young (17). My Dad would call me from a dead sleep and ask if I would help somebody outa the ditch. Knowing that sometimes I could end-up with "movie money" I didn't mind. But it seems thou the newer the car the less I would get or get nothing other then a friendly smile as they drove away. One nite, dad made that call I got up got dressed, fired-up the ole case 700. With this skinny guy hanging the back of the tractor we found his car. Snow blowing couldn't see 5 feet in front of yeah. There's his car with a very upset fat lady in the front seat of his car. She rolled down the window and said "please hurry" well that kinda made me mad till her hubby said there expecting there 1st child. Well I got them back on the road and as I was unhooking the chain he said "I got no money" Well Dad always told us to say "thats OK just do somebody a good deed sometime. So they where off. As put the tractor away. I kept thinking how nasty the lady was and I didn't get any movie money. Oh well. Spring came and so did spring field work. I was on the ole 700 working a field for Dad to plant corn in, it was around 10:00 at nite when a guy and a lady carrying bundle in her arms stopped me. I got off the tractor and the guy said "you whata hold my son?" I said no I might drop him. The lady smiled and handed him to me. She said thanks for helping us out that wintery nite. As I handed the baby back to the lady the skinny guy handed me a cold coke and $10.00 bill. After that I never expected payment for pulling people out of the ditch. I grew-up that day.
