I use a 1998 JD 8300MFD with a 7' blower. Here in MN if you pile the snow, you are just asking for some monster drifts. With engine side covers (covering the fuel system) I haven't had to use #1 fuel, just put some fuel conditioner in it with no problems at -35 degrees. I generally don't have the MFD engaged as the tractor has too much traction and is VERY hard on the blower if you are not carefull. If the snow is too deep (2-3')I can lift the blower up 12-18" for the first pass and back over the top and not get stuck. I still have the MFD to engage if I get in trouble. I can adjust the 3 point lift height so it doesn't lift too high and damage the PTO knuckles. (18-20" seems best for me) The heated cab also feels great going down the road to the next job.
