It all depends, like Robbie says, how slow or fast you want to go. My neighbor has two 1026's that he ADORES, and chops hay and corn with the one. It puffs plenty of smoke, and is putting about 110, about as much as it can put out without turbo. He goes at a good pace, and definately feeds that Gehl 800 he's got. We have an 826 gear, so I know what kind of power you're talking about. I would say it would pull it fine, and with the hydro I'd go as fast as i could, just keeping the RPM's just above PTO, pulling back a little whenever nessecary. Will it work, you bet. Will it do a good job? It should. It may not be IDEAL, but the key thing EVERYONE (including myself when I'm trying to do my work) should acknowledge is that IT GETS THE JOB DONE. (I'm looking at an ol' 20-C chopper for my SM, just for Poops&laughs, and that did the job back in the day, too, you need to remember.) Good luck with an awesome tractor.
