They can turn pretty mean when they're newly rebuilt, especially if they are a tad out of time. Mine tried to run back when I was attempting to crank it and caused me to miss 13 weeks of work due to the injurys. I'd wait for the starter. If you insist on cranking it and need a crank, you can find one somewhere in the weeds on the back side of my shop where this one landed after I heaved it as far as I could.
