I hit deer a few years back, with Peterbuilt and set of loaded Super-B grain trailers. Going about 30mph I felt the front wheel go over him, from there I heard him tumbling through the maze of tires. I reported it to game dept, they told me later it took a shovel to gather him up.

About 20 years ago I had a deer jump from field to gravel road in front of my new 3/4 pickup. The deer landed in loose gravel and fell. He rolled under pickup much as one guy described hitting the pig. When I got stopped he was right under cab. I could tell by the way he was shaking truck he was not hurt very bad. I also was quite sure I had not hit him with a wheel. When he came out from under truck he first fell head first, then onto his feet , and run, I know I never hit any of his legs. I got out of truck to survey damage, lucky none. I did notice where he was clawing to get out from under truck, he dug holes 2" deep in the hard wheel tracks of gravel road. Those hooves are just as sharp as razors.

A friend told a group of us he was going to crawl up on his belly, down wind from a spring fawn and catch him bare handed. He did and was sucessful. He grabed deer by the hind leg and at first wasn't going to let go. That hesitation cost him a lot of wounds, he looked like someone sliced him with a kinfe, there was blood running from all over him. Oh the perills of drinking beer.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
