I'm trying to remember exactly what I did. It's been several years ago but I think I put a crankshaft from a D282 into a C301. I don't know about the crankshaft gear but I would imagine the cam & cam gear are different. I know the front cover is different from 706 tractor to old cotton picker as the picker needed the casting to mount a hydraulic pump on the engine whereas the 706 and later tractors had a MCV pump and a hitch pump.
