That is good advice to get in the habit of turning off the fuel valves. A small leak is not a chronic problem but it usually means the high pressure seat in the regulator leaking some. As it gets worse over the years, you might want to address the problem. I've seen them so bad that you could see propane vapor coming out the exhaust pipe/muffler with the motor shut off. When you crank it an explosion occurs that is real similar to a 12 gauge shotgun. I've seen them blow the sides out of the muffler.
