One of the two levers should control the hydraulics, the other probably controls the belt pulley (which would also be there near your right foot but have often been removed). The cylinder mounted where it is would probably be used to pull a cable attached to a trailing implement for raising/lowering it. I suppose you could put a 3pt hitch on the M, but there are plenty of semi-mounted and trailing implements available that don't need the hitch. Now that you have been infected with the old tractor bug you can set up the M for heavy pulling chores and get a lighter utility tractor with power steering, factory 3pt that has draft control, and live hydraulics/pto for those tasks.
