Check to make sure it is not the worm gear sector.
Watch close as you turn the wheel. Look for play between the sector and the shaft.
My H has about 1/16th or so of play and thats after a upper bolster rebuild.
Narrow front shimmys like heck in 5th gear.
I put a add in the classifieds on this site and got one for $20 + shipping I had about 20 responses ranging from $20 to $130 for used ones.
