I was very concerned about purchasing a tractor with the narrow front end. All I had ever used were tractors with wide fronts. After purchasing a 400 with a narrow front, I was EXTREMLY carefull with how I operated the tractor, always scared the thing would tip over if I ran over a small stone. Well, after using the tractor most of the summer, I can say that I exercise just as much caution using the narrow front as with the wide front. Now I am VERY carefull how I operate the 400. If I do not feel comfortable on the slopes in the yard on the wide front tractor (ford), then I will not go there on the 400. I also believe that the narrow fronts are must easier to manuver that then wide fronts. Only you can be the judge of how sable you think the tractor is. In MY opinion, one is no more stable than the other. On a note: I do get an advantage on this, around here, most narrow front tractors sell for an average of $1200.00 to $1800.00 less than those with wide fronts.
