I think your friend was right when he asked if you were having carb problems. Sounds like the needle valve might be sticking open occasionally. Take the glass bowl off of the fuel valve and refill it with Berryman's B-12 and run the tractor. It should clean the needle valve up and cure the problem if this is it. My 2�,
