Hugh, should it be checked when it is cold (and in the pan)or warm (and possibly still up in the block)? I think you should open the top one up and let all off it drain out to that point. Is that correct? Thanks for your reply because I feel kind of funny draining oil out when I know that is what I am supposed to do
