Dave: They increased the RPM of that engine several times between 1939 to 1950 when they added about 10 cubes. There were different pistons from the factory too. Standard and 5000ft and 8000 ft altitude rated along with changes for the all fuel engines. Mix and match all that and you get slight changes in power. As they say: your milage may vary slightly.. All of them were good long lasting engines. G.
