I remember back in the 70's (and maybe 60's too, I'm aging myself!) they experimented with different 'alternative fuels'. Methanol alcohol is DEFINITELY corrosive - they found it ate up things like carb floats. I don't know about Ethanol, I do know some gas stations today sell 'blended' gasoline/ethanol. Maybe someone can shed some light on this! I do think even with gasoline it is a good idea if you are going to let the tractor set a while to shut off the fuel and drain the carburetor - it keeps things from getting gummed up!
