Bobby, I had the same experience. Wiht long years of use, the teeth in the centers of the friction discs that fit over the spline will wear notches into the spline and deform the metal, effectively locking them in. You don't want to go crazy, but you can usually get them free with some tapping and jiggling while putting some outward pressure on the disc with a flat prybar. Move the prybar around to different spots. What you want to avoid is any kind of blow or leverage that will break the heavier cast discs. Patience will be an important factor. They will come off.
