I agree with you that you won't find much of an 826 for that price, and I agree with Steven that any IH Hydro is going to bring a premium price, but if you definetly want the hydro trans., mabey you can get a little better deal by going for a smaller tractor- 656 Hydro. I know of a 656 Gas/Hydro that just sold for $4300, it was in fair shape. Personally I'd look for a diesel, those C-263 gas engines are VERY thirsty. If you decide that you could go for a gear-drive, just make sure it's got a good TA, and you will have about the same ground-speed control advantage as you would with the hydro.
