560 diesel - hydrualic question

I have a 59 560 diesel. When I am pulling my 12 ft springtooth and I have the rpms up around 1600, It seems like I will notice the engine lugging somewhat. I know there should be some lugging but when I raise the 3 point up or down, the lugging relieves until the 3pt stops. I have disconnected the cylinder from the original 3pt ports and put quick connects on and have it hooked to the remote valve. I was trying to get around the Tele-depth. Am I causing other problems by doing this? I don't want to burn up my hydraulic pump.
