Jeff, it would seem to me in my experience that if you disconnect a post on a battery there is no way anything can drain from the battery..that would lead me to think that you have a bad cell in the battery and even if you charge it up you still have that bad cell..it may be a coincidence that the battery went dead about the same time...I know a guy who bought a new starter for his Allis because the old starter wouldn't work on a new battery..turns out the new battery was no good..I still have the...I mean he still has the extra starter...check that battery closely..good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
