Ludwig: Oh, I don't think the seat and battery location could be considered stronger proof after 50 years and likely several owners. A battery and seat can get switched rather quickly. Stronger proof as to which stage it would be, in my opinion, is the live hydraulics for stage 2. (That is what we bought new in '53) Who would take off the live pump in front and put in a belly unit? That kinda switch is possible but kinda backwards unless some previous owner years ago was very hardup. Generally speaking, belly pump for stage one. Live hyd for stage two and SMta for three. Now that's a general statement for most I would think. Yes, 50 years later there can be "special order" units made up now. Harold H is the best man to state what was most often sold around the cornbelt. Cotton belt sometimes deleted options. Gene

Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
