Doug- the 966 has a hydraulic-type TA, whereas an SMTA would have the mechanical type. The machanical type are very easy to fix.

Ugly Jim- I've never done a hydraulic TA, but my experience has been that jobs that seem big, like this, are usually not all that bad, and after all, they are composed of a lot of small, easy jobs, that make up the big job. So get yourself a shop manual, and have at it!
