I don't know what kind of pump you have, but I have seen it done a couple of different ways. The Char-lynn pump can mount either low near the govenor and drive off the crankshaft or high up under the hood and drive off the generator belt. I don't recall if there is enough room on an MD for the high mount. I just put power steering on my M. I used an older GM pump, don't know year or model, just older GM. I made the brackets and have it mounted high on the governor side, driven with the belt for the alternator. With my installation I used a 48 inch long belt and have adjustment at the pump and alternator. Just finished it tonight and what a pleasure to drive!
