Sorry, that is with the air cleaner hose not connected to the carb. Would that make a difference at this point. If so I'll try it this evening to see. Great point though. I haven't even thought about that. Fuel in tank was drained, tank was taken off and cleaned out. No water in tank, sediment bowl is clean, fuel line is clean strainer on carb is clean. Plenty of fuel getting into the carb. Removed carb yesterday and blew through all orifaces. it does fire and run for 10 to fifteen seconds and then quits.
