Did you check the timing?
Take #1 plug out, put your thumb over the plug hole and turn the engine over with the hand crank. When the pressure in the cylinder pushes your thumb away, it's on the compression stroke. Shine a flashlight into the hole and see when the piston is at the top. When it is, take the distributor cap off and see if the rotor is pointing at the terminal for # 1 cylinder. if it isn't, there's your problem.
The magneto turns 1/2 turn for every turn of the engine. you may have reinstalled it 180 deg out. It's easy to do.
