Hello Paul,
I just got through dealing with the same problem. I have a '48 C with an H-4 mag. I changed the coil, the condenser, spark plug wires. (All parts from NAPA). Took it into a shop that wanted to rebuild it. Finally I looked at the shop manual a little more closely. The wire that attaches to the points I had put in backwards. The open part that fits on the bakelite securer at the bottom should be pointed towards the back of the tractor. Allowing for the points to be positively grounded on the front side. It fires great now. Good luck!
