The gas engine will not just "drop in" the MD. The side rails on the chassis are a little longer on the MD. Other things are different too, you can't just change the side rails. The steering worm and shaft is longer. Probably other things as well. You'd have to get new throttle linkages. Better just to find a gas M if that is what you are looking for. Plenty of them around and relatively cheap.
