THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY,
I HAVE GONE THROUGH ABOUT 5 COILS IN 12 MONTHS,
THE NEG. SIDE OF COIL IS HOOKED TO DISTRIBUTOR,
THE RESISTOR IS ON THE ALTERNATOR,AND THERE IS NO POWER TO COIL, WHEN SWITCH IS OFF.
THE PROBLEM OCCURRS AFTER ABOUT 1 TO 2 HOURS OF OPERATION UNDER NORMAL MOWER LOAD AND PRIMARILY ON HOT DAYS. AFTER THE COIL COOLS DOWN, I CAN NORMALLY RE-START ENGINE AND CUT SOME MORE OR AT LEAST LIMP BACK TO THE BARN. OTHER TIMES THE COIL IS TOAST. COULD IT BE THE RESISTOR? ... HOW DO I CHECK IT?
