Look at it this way, if you can do the work yourself, you'll save 4-500 bucks in labor. Take $20 of that to pay for a service manual and you are still ahead quite a bit. If you want go ask your local Case/IH service manager to look at the shop repair manual on that tractor and get an idea of what is involved. Then decide if you can do it yourself, buy the service manual there and get the tractor. If it is beyond your expertise to attempt the repair, you have the choice, buy it or not. You will find that most machines 50+ years old will need some work done on them from time to time. The manual will come in handy for most jobs.//FB
