I don't know how much experience you have with the tractor but (if you know this already please ignore it) you are not supposed to shift while the tractor is moving. The tranny isn't syncronised so the gears will grind even with the clutch pushed in if you shift while moving. Sometimes (especially if there isn't enough or the right oil in there) the gears take a while to slow down which means you just have to wait. Did the problem start suddenly or has it just been getting worse? Hope this helps. SAm in NS
