Richard, you may have done this already but I would check my fuel flow first thing. I had a chunk of rust get in my fuel line before and it will sit and idle just fine but when you give it throtle it would just fall on it's face.Not sure how it is on the cub but a lot of Farmalls will have a screen where the fuel line screws into the card and this is a good place to check for junk in the line.
