Thanks Lewis, That helps, the tube that slides (to engage)over this shaft has (2)two teeth or prongs, cut on an angle. This angle would allow the rotation of the transmission gear to turn the sleeve and shaft. If the tube and shaft rotates the other direction- it would push back and I guess disengage. The gear in my transmission case is female spline- about (8)eight splines I guess. Do you remember if there is a smaller spline/connector to mate them up? Or do you think I need a different shaft?
