Along with what Hugh said about the glow plugs When I got my 560D I took the glow plugs out and to a dealer to check the service manager took a set of jumper cables out of his truck hooked the glow plugs (one at a time) to a 12 volt battery if they turned cherry red they where fine. A easy way to check them.
