I agree with the others - one (or more likely both) of the shaft seals at the front of the transmission have failed. Your experience is exactly what happened to me after I replaced the oil in the transmission on my SH. Replacing the seals is not terribly difficult, but you need to drop the belly pump (heavy!) to access to 'em.

Note that the replacement seals will look different (are not as thick) as the original factory-installed seals. However they fit and work fine, and will probably last longer than the original leather-type seals. My SH hasn't leaked one drop of tranny lube since the seals were replaced.
