Sounds like a bad seal alright.I have not been into an H. I know the "Red" and many of the other guys on this forum have been in the belly of these old H's and they should be a lot more help than I can be to you.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
