Dave - Simplest solution is to replace the existing button ignition switch with a DPDT toggle switch, as shown in diagram #7 in the link below. Another way is to use a single wire 10SI alternator (diagram #9), However single wire alternators are more expensive, and have some functional drawbacks over their 3-wire cousins.

You could also add a relay and swap the existing N.C. ignition switch with an N.O. switch, but you then add complexity (and cost). My advice is to keep it simple and use a toggle switch!
