Sounds like you've got trouble. 706 and 806 were the first to use the hydraulic TA (non-freewheeling), and I don't think anything over 70 horsepower ever had the mechanical TA. IH kept using the mechanical TA in lower horsepower tractors up until the 686 in the early 80's.
