I took the side plate and the top cover off the range transmission, the reverse drive gear and the reverse idler gear can be moved freely - back and forth - about a half inch or so. The tractor will pull in reverse (if you can manage to get it in reverse) but it won't stay in reverse. Sometimes when it slips out of gear, I have to move the shift lever back towards nuetral to get back into reverse. Could I be generating metal here?
