1948 Cub 2nd gear

My Cub has a knock in 2n gear. The whole trans is very noisy, much more than my straight cut gear A. I`m guessing the gear has a broken tooth. Can anyone give me a rough idea what is involved in this repair,splitting the tractor etc. Thanks in advance to those who would care to comment.
