Andy, I went through the same thing with a cub that sat for almost 30 yrs, the tank was a nightmare.Some people reccomended por15 a prduct you can get on the net.I tried s putting a couple gallons of laquer thinner in the tank for a couple days=helped alittle,pressure washing inside of tank ect...What worked for me but you have to be Really CAREFUL is mauratic acid! remove tank from tractor and remove strainer assembly from bottom of tank because it will EAT IT OFF YOUR TANK I found out the hard way!! plug hole in tank with a plug(steel) make sure all gas is out of tank and add acid.Leave in for about 1/2 hour dump out and rinse with gas a couple times,WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT Justin
